Blessed at 60 Birthday & Blogaversary Blog Hop Day 2
Wow! Sunday already?!?!? How did that happen ;) Oh you know what that means... YOU BETTER GET CRAFTING because tomorrow is Monday already! But I am glad you are here and hope you are enjoying the hop this far. Today is day 2 of the Blessed at 60 Birthday & Blogaversary Blog Hop. If you did not have a chance to check out yesterday's projects for Kathie's birthday please be sure to check them out. If you are here from Kathy's page then you are in the right spot! If you are just stopping by and you did not start at the beginning of this hop be sure to start at Kathie's page (http://kathleessnippitsncricuts.blogspot.com.) and follow along the hop.
Today's hop is dedicated to cancer... well dedicating it to cancer I guess is a bit of strong wording but it is all about Cancer and how it has impacted us in our lives. I am going to try to get through this blog with out crying... but I am sure I am not going to make it. I am focusing on breast cancer. Last September seemed like an ordinary month. We had just celebrated my daughter's second birthday and everything was going well. A couple days prior to this my mom had gone in for a routine check up and for some odd reason she was scheduled for a mammography. (Normally this would not have been for another month or two). For some reason she decided to go ahead and have it done and we are so thankful everyday that she did. When they looked it over they found spots which they told her they were positive were calcium deposits and she could either have them biopsied or she could wait a few months to a year and see what happened. She had them biopsied just to be safe. I can remember getting the phone call from my sister who was crying... they were waiting to tell me until my husband got home as they knew I would take it the hardest but I knew the minute I answered my sisters call. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer non invasive... My life at that point was flipped upside down. My mom is my best friend. She is the one I talk to about everything, she is my world and I could not let anything happen to her. My husband and I went with her to meet the surgeon and talked over all the possibilities. They decided to take out the tissue in her breast that surrounds the cancer. They found it to be very small from the graphs they had taken. I went with her and my dad the next Monday for the surgery. We were happy when they said they had gotten it all, though they told us it was about double the size they had thought it would be. They tested all the tissue over and called her back a couple days later with bad news... what they thought was a noninvasive cancer turned out to have invasive cells inside of it. They had never seen anything like it before. So they asked her to come in the following Monday for another surgery to have her lymph nodes removed and tested. We are very grateful that came back negative. She had to go through six weeks of intense radiation. I am very happy to say she made it through like a champ! She is my rock and I am so proud of her for "Fighting Like a Girl" and kicking cancers butt! My mother is one of the strongest women I know and I am so proud to be her daughter and her friend. She truly is amazing!!!
This is a picture of my mom and I at a wedding :) Isn't she beautiful? I love her so much and thank God every day for helping her through the treatments and keeping her strong. I would be lost without her!!!
This card I did the bling pink ribbon and used my Storybook cricut cartridge to cut out the wording
Fight Like a Girl! I love that saying. I took my pink ink and rubbed it around the card to give it the pink color.

Now for my cards. I created this card with some sparkle stickers and bling. The paper is a designed paper out of a note card size pack I got from Hobby Lobby. Faith, Hope, Love and Courage some of the most important things in helping one fight the courageous battle against cancer!
Fight Like a Girl! I love that saying. I took my pink ink and rubbed it around the card to give it the pink color.
As much as I hate cancer I enjoyed making these cards to brighten someones day who just found out they have cancer or may being going through treatment to get rid of it. It is a courageous battle!
I do have some blog candy for this hop. I have gotten a pink tote, stickers, and some breast cancer awareness pink ribbon tissue (the Kleenex kind not the decorative kind). All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell me someone you are grateful for and if you have a second tell them how much they mean to you today because you never know what tomorrow brings! I will announce the winner Monday.
Thanks for stopping! Enjoy your Sunday all.

60 really is the bomb isn't it? I hear it is the new 40!
This card was made with paper I had laying around (most likely Hobby Lobby) and the bomb was created with the Micky and Friends Cricut Cartridge... the letters are from the Storybook cartridge. (p.s. not sure what the blob is above the B but my daughter was over by it before I took the picture... so who knows ;) )
Simply Fabulous even at 60! I do not know Kathie well but I am pretty sure this fits her perfectly! :)
The crown was created with the Storybook cartridge. The stamp was from K Andrew Designs... it is a stamp set called Fashionable Friends. If you have not had a chance to check out Kristal's stamps (cause I never talk about them or anything ;)) Be sure to check them out! She just release new sets this weekend and they are of course... ADORABLE! anyhow... check them out here http://www.kandrewdesigns.com/
Okay this was meant to be cute so I hope you are not put off by it Kathie :) It is Happy Birthday From one ol' bag to another! I thought it was cute... The saying "From one ol' bag to another" is also from the Fashionable Friends stamp set by K. Andrew Designs and the Happy Birthday was a stamp set I picked up from Hobby Lobby by Paper Studio I believe... The bag came from Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge and the paper and ribbon were just stuff I had!
Isn't it cute... Oh I forgot the rhinestones! Gotta bling it up a bit right??
